La Bota de Palo Cortado. No 17 (37.5cl) Sherry Tasting Notes:
“Deep burnished gold. Probably the most subtle on the nose so far: richly nutty but with notes of orange and dried apricots. A hint of dark caramel and perfumed smoke. More dramatic on the palate, with the smoky/dirty socks of Lapsang Suchong. Finally a slight bitterness on the finish which is strangely refreshing.” (www.jancisrobinson.com)
“As a Palo Cortado, it retains the energy of an amontillado and the weight of an oloroso. But this one, chosen from a unique row-end cask, magnifies the concept. Filled with brine, layers of dried fruit and a nutty richness, it envelops you in the quintessence of sherry. Any Equipo bottle is a special experience. No. 17 is a reminder of the centuries of Jerez's unique traditions.” (Jon Bonne. www.sfgate.com)
