Pas Curtei 2005 Red Wine Tasting Notes:

Tasted 10/12/12. Popped & poured
60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Carinena. 1 year in French oak, (20% new oak)

Deep red in colour, brick-coloured rim. Herbaceous & mineral with some black cherry & almost peat-like earthy aroma's, really interesting.
Medium-bodied with a good texture. Fine grained tannins, nicely dry, giving ample structure. There is a core of sweet cassis & black cherry but at this stage it is well & truly wrapped in layers of wet-slate-like mineral, truffle, Asian spice & tobacco. The fruit reveal a little of itself mid-palate & gives a vein of pure cassis in a good mineral finish.

After several hours, the cassis flavours really unfurled & the wine fattened up considerably also taking on some toasty notes in the finish.

I found it to be a really fasinating wine to drink over a few hours.
