“Domaine Sang des Cailloux seems to make the argument with each vintage that it is the top producer in Vacqueyras” - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.

Domaine le Sang des Cailloux is situated in Sarrians (a commune on the outskirts of Vacqueyras) - The eye-catching rose pink building is home to the enigmatic, wildly moustached Serge Ferigoule who crafts the boldest, purest expression of Vacqueyras.
The hedonistic, Grenache dominated red's spend up to two years in old oak foudes before being bottled without fining or filtration. There is a purity, richness and complexity here to compare with the top estates in nearby Chateauneuf du Pape.
A tiny amount (1000-2000 bottles) of white Vacqueyras is also produced each year. The 2008 vintage offering one of the finest white wines in the Southern Rhone.
2007 Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras ‘Floureto’ £225 per 12 bottle case A stunning wine made of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre & 3% Cinsault.
The plum-coloured ‘Floureto’ (named after one of Serge Ferigoule’s three daughters), spends a year ageing in large old fourdes before being bottled without fining or filtration.
The resulting wine shows a dense gathering of spiced-up dark fruit, liquorice & Provencial herbs on the nose. Flavours are an alluring concentration of rich, spicy Rhone splendour in a style that welcomes you with open arms. Tannins are fine. A layer of mineral provides lift & focus to what has to be my favourite Vacqueyras of the year.
The vines have an average age of 40 years & yields are low at 29.50 hl/ha. The 2007 vintage is the first to be registered organic. 14% abv. 92/100 Robert Parker. 91-93/100 Tanzer.
2008 Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras ‘Un Sang Blanc’ £345 per 12 bottle case A rare, powerful & spectacular white wine of which only 2 barrels were produced.
A blend of 20% each of Grenache Blanc & Clairette with 15% each of Marsanne, Viognier, Bourboulenc & Roussanne aged for a year in 450 litre demi-muids. Yields are just 20 hl/ha.
Straw-coloured; with an attractive nose of ripe stone fruits, white flowers, hay & honeysuckle. Lusciously textured, with a fresh, generous display of mineral enriched stone fruits. The acidity is pitch perfect and harmonises this elegant, complex wine. 14% abv.
