Now available. New wines from Chateau Mourgues du Gres, Costieres de Nimes

Just arrived! - Our small parcel of the irresistible new releases from Chateau Mourgues du Gres, a 40 hectare estate in the Costieres de Nimes which is owned & meticulously run by Anne and Francois Collard. Francois is an agricultural engineer and trained oenologue who original worked at Chateau Lafite. Their wines, traditionally fermented in tank are wonderfully expressive and pure in flavour.

The terroir here is made up of 'de galets' called gres, similar to Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

2010 is an outstanding vintage for the red wine; Les Galets Rouge and will give immense pleasure in it's youth, and over the next five years. The Galets Dores Blanc and Fleur d’Eglantine Rose are always favourites of ours. The 2011s are beautifully fresh and aromatic with perfect balance between zesty fruit and fine, citrus acidity.

2011 Galets Dores Blanc, Chateau Mourgues du Gres.

Produced from a blend of vermentino, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette and Marsanne. Lovely freshness on the bouquet - pure, vibrant, fresh and aromatic. Lovely clean, ripe, expressive fruit on the palate, with hints of pear and honeysuckle. Zesty and a hint mineral with a lovely zip of acidity. Fresh, elegant balance.

2011 Fleur d’Eglantine Rose, Chateau Mourgues du Gres

A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan. Lovely clean nose, very floral and aromatic with red berry fruit. Delicate and fruit driven. Subtle complexity, fresh, vibrant and above all, fine and elegant.

2010 Galets Rouge, Chateau Mourgues du Gres
£130 per dozen and £68 per six, duty paid or £80 per dozen, under-bond.
From a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Ripe, pure, fragrant bouquet with ripe, blackberry fruits. The same expression carries through onto the palate. Beautifully ripe, with pure, elegant black berry fruits, fine acidity and silky tannins. Appealingly harmonious balance and good length.

A mixed case of twelve bottles, that includes four bottles of each wine can be purchased for £139. (Not available under-bond).
