Mas Oller is a Boutique, 12 hectare winery nestled away in the historic D.O of Emporda: a wonderful, amphitheatre-like wine region overlooking the Mediterranean sea, located in the north-eastern part of Catalonia, just to the south of the Pyrenees.
Owner, Carlos Esteva is well known in Spain for his pioneering wine-making (he introduced Merlot in Spain during the seventies and his Gran Caus Tinto 1984 made using Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc aged in French Oak barrels was a completely new concept in Spain).
Assisting Carlos is wine-maker Anna Baques who was awarded "Most promising Young Wine-Maker" by the Catalan Wine Makers Association in 2008. Anna previously worked for the famous Can Rafols dels Caus
2010 Mas Oller 'Mar' The 2010 Mas Oller Mar is a blend of 80% Picapoll and 20% Malvasia fermented and aged in stainless steel. Mineral, saline, lemon-lime, and sea breeze aromas inform the nose of this mouth-filling, refreshing white. Balanced and lengthy, this outstanding value will continue to deliver pleasure for another 4-5 years.
2010 Mas Oller 'Pur' The deep purple-colored 2010 Mas Oller Pur is made up of 50% Syrah, 30% Garnacha, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 3 months in French oak. Notes of game, Asian spices, lavender, and black fruits compose the nose of this savory, full-flavored, bargain-priced offering. It will blossom for another 2-3 years and drink well through 2020.
