The bustling Christophe Semaska is now considered one of the finest young wine makers in Ampuis. In the cramped cellars of Chateau de Montlys, perched high up at the north extremities of Ampuis, Christophe manages his wines ? around 8 barrels of them in an average vintage (in 2003 there were even less). He is constantly learning his craft and is never satisfied, always experimenting, for his desire is to make the best wines possible and hopefully earn some money along the way. For him, the work he is doing now is for his son. He is very much an outsider in this rather closed village and he is happy to remain so.
