Gevrey Chambertin
This is another young vigneron who has completely turned around the fortunes of the family domaine. Jean-Mare is passionate about terroir and has chosen to vinify each of the family’s vineyards separately to show their individual expression.
This means that instead of producing one village Gevrey and one 1er Cru he now makes two village wines and five 1er Crus. He interferes with the wines as little as possible during their elevage and prefers to bottle without filtration. He does not wish to mask the expression of fruit and terroir and thus keeps the percentage of new oak to a minimum.
The 20% he does employ is primarily, simply to replace old barrels. Domaine Fourrier is now one of the best addresses in Gevrey producing truly expressive wines which are the epitome of elegance.
