A Domaine now run by the third generation, Marc Sorrel, he continues the craft and legacy after his predecessor, Felix Sorrel of the first generation and subsequently, Henri Sorrel. Started initially by Felix Sorrel in 1927, this Domaine is known to be the finest source of artisanal and traditionally made Hermitage wines. Among his wines are two superlative cuvees, Le Greal and Les Roucoules, made from vines over 60 years of age and with extremely low yields. Marc still uses traditional methods of wine making such as hand harvesting and horses in his vineyard. Late picking of the grapes is practiced to produce his Hermitages due to his belief that riper grapes make richer Hermitages. Sorrel never filters nor fines his wines as he believes strongly that this will better preserve their flavors and intensity.
