Philippe continues to tend the 12 ha of vines with the same tradition and respect to terroir as his father and grandfather before him. The vineyards are worked organically and the grapes are all hand harvested to allow careful selection and elimination of anything under-ripe in more difficult vintages. Vinification is completely natural with no cultured yeasts. Chaptilisation, acidification and de-acidification are never performed here and the balance is always exquisite!
Indeed for me the wines of Foreau are arguably the purist expression of Vouvray of the appellation and amazingly consistent. The 2009s are really superb however, and have also allowed all styles to be produced from Sec to the Moelleux Reserve. Once again the purity and balance in each wine is sublime.
