Pla i Llevant is a DO on the island of Majorca., founded in 1999, it is made up of 13 bodegas. The most important investment made to date by this appellation’s winemakers has been the combination of traditional production techniques with innovative methods, together with the blending of native and international grape varieties. These characteristics have meant that, despite DO Pla i Llevant’s modest production, its wines have been acknowledged for their quality and variety in numerous international competitions.
The influence of the Mediterranean sea and climate, typical of the region, give the wines from Pla i Llevant, which translated from Mallorquín (a Catalan dialect spoken on the island), means ‘the plains and coast of eastern Majorca’, their singular character. This region benefits from a long winemaking and vineyard cultivation tradition together with favourable agro-climatic conditions.
